Current Research

  • Current Research
Finerty Consulting is currently conducting research in two areas: 1. Matrix Organizations (organizations organized on multiple structures--by product, region, function, etc. and/or those that use dotted line reporting relationships and cross-functional team structures) 2. Private Equity-Owned Companies. Specifically, those that have been recently acquired by public companies. If you would like to know more, or participate in the research, please contact:

What's with the Name?

  • I am a mutt. I was born a mutt--with a nice, strong Polish last name, but a whole mix of ethnicities behind it. I married a mutt, gave birth to three mutts. The only thing in my life that isn't a mutt, is my actual mutt, who is a pure-bred with a championship bloodline. So, I guess it shouldn't have surprised me when a new colleague recently asked me what leaders and leadership models I most admired and I struggled to answer. "Ummm..." I stammered, thinking that surely after 20 years of studying, consulting and teaching leadership I should be able to come up with something. A CEO? A political figure? A humanitarian? A mentor of some sort? "Mother Theresa?" he offered up as he watched me dither. "I guess I am just an amalgamation of a lot of different leaders I have seen or read about and a lot of different models I've seen or used." 'Amalgamation'--a much nicer word than 'mutt.' But 'Leadership Mutt' is catchier, don't you think?? So, that's how this blog was born. And that's what it's going to be all about--a little of this, a little of that. But in the end a scrappy, practical look at life, learning and leadership. Sometimes it will be random tips, ideas and advice. Other times I will actually stay on a topic through a series of posts. If there is a topic you would like to see, let me know! Welcome to Leadership Mutt! Now, sit!
